Focused study in spiritual transformation for a customized educational journey

Certificate in Spiritual Transformation

OVERVIEW

We believe that real change takes place incrementally over time with others in the context of spiritual practices that open us to God's transforming work. The Certificate in Spiritual Transformation identifies the completion of a learning process that guides leaders in an experience of spiritual transformation in the context of a Transforming Community.® This 27-month journey offers a holistic approach to spiritual transformation in the life of the leader so that spiritual leadership will flow naturally from the transformation they are experiencing in their own life. Thus, the method of learning is highly experiential and includes substantive teaching, readings and written reflections on spiritual formation themes, guided experiences in classic Christian disciplines, and significant engagement in community with other leaders.

CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Attend 9 retreats*
  • Practice the disciplines in between retreats
  • Complete required readings
  • Complete and submit written assignments

  • Engage in spiritual direction or spiritual friendship (strongly recommended)

Kairos University

For those interested in earning academic credit in concert with their Transforming Community® experience, we are pleased to inform you that the Transforming Center has formed a partnership with Kairos University, located in Sioux Falls, SD. Through the Kairos Project, an alternative educational track, participants in a Transforming Community can fully integrate their transforming leadership journey with one of several academic options, including a graduate certificate, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Leadership, Master of Divinity, or Doctor of Ministry. Each option provides students with an opportunity to focus their studies in spiritual transformation while providing them a mentor team to customize the entire educational journey.

These certificates and degrees are comparatively affordable, accessible from anywhere (some degrees require intensives on campus), relevant to the context of the student, and faithful to God’s call to an ongoing process of transformation. This structure allows students to pursue their degree or certificate while staying fully active in ministry, invested in their day-to-day lives, and committed to a life of missional engagement.

Students must first apply and be accepted by the Transforming Center into a Transforming Community before applying to Kairos University. There is no set deadline for Kairos University applications, as Transforming Community participants may apply prior to the launch of their communities, at any time during their communities, or even after the completion of their communities. Students must be accepted by both the Transforming Center and Kairos Unversity to participate in an academic program.

If you wish to speak with someone in the Transforming Center about this opportunity, please contact David Hughes at dhughes@transformingcenter.org.
